About us:

S.A.B. Aerospace S.r.l. (SAB-I), is a private and independent Italian SME, part of the SAB Group, operating in the Space Business since 2004. The company core business is focused on the development of mechanical sub-systems for Satellite and Launchers as well as Thermal Control sub-system design, mechanisms and Satellite equipment such as Battery Packs. The company takes advantages of the internal vibration test facility, the internal mechanical workshop and Integration area for the manufacturing, assembly and qualification of space components. Despite the SME status, SAB-I has received direct contracts from ESA and have implemented all the ESA procedures and standards. Moreover, SAB-I had the opportunity to participate to the launch campaigns for VEGA VV02; thus, is familiar with rules implemented by ESA in the launch space port in French Guyana. Starting from project requirements SAB performs Design activities, Procurement and Manufacturing, Functional and Environmental Test Campaign up to qualification process, including Project Office activities. In nineteen years of activity, the company grew thanks to the partnership established with major European Player. SAB-I is currently involved in the development of: the Small Spacecraft Mission Service (S.S.M.S.) Dispenser for VEGA-C (Customer: AVIO), the PLATO Satellite Service Module Structure (Customer: OHB System AG) and the ROSE-L Satellite Structure and Thermal Control System (Customer: Thales Alenia Space Italia). In the frame of these projects, SAB is demonstrating the capability to manage and successfully carry out a space project involving the design and the manufacturing of complex structures based on Composite Technologies. SAB-I is currently responsible of the development of the Gripper and the Hard Berthing mechanism of the In Orbit Service Demonstration Mission (Customer: Leonardo).

SAB Aerospace’s mission is to manage and successfully complete space projects involving the design, the manufacturing and the qualification of complex structures providing reliable solutions and high-quality products to institutional and commercial customers. Since its creation in 2004 SAB Aerospace has collaborated with research centres and Italian universities like Rome, Milan, Naples and Ancona to offer innovative and affordable technologies with high reliability and performance.

Our Strategy:

SAB-I has a key role in the development of complex mechanical structures for satellites and launchers recognised at European level. SAB-I strategy is to become the ideal partner for the major European Primes for the development of mechanical structures and mechanisms, providing reliable and high quality products and remaining competitive in terms of price.
